so this week our assignment for tracy was to create a piece that we've always wanted to, something that has come up multiple times in our sketch book or something that we have been thinking about or going back to over a period of time.
i have realized that i kept drawing the same image, simple neck with straight lines coming off of it, since junior year of undergrad, so this was my choice for this assignment.
i wanted my piece to be light, but have many multiples of shapes over and over again on top of each other, making tons of layers, but still being light and comfortable. wearable. visually busy, but interesting...
i finally chose vellum after considering molding, casting rubber, cutting thin sheets of copper and enameling them, plastic, dried acrylic paint, fabric, and on and on...
the vellum worked out well, and now our next assignment is to make 8-10 more.. exhausting the possibilities. i chose to keep the basic shape, but change the materials. should be exciting!!
